Some beans on toast, a glass of cold champagne
September nights grow darker every day
Sit outside waiting for the winter's rain
To wash the fading summer's sun away.
The seasons have been good for such a while
The winter's coming but who really cares?
Those snowy storms so often make us smile
And summer's sun the winter also shares.
The world is dark, lost and kind of mirthless
At times it's like we're stranded in a tree
Things we care the most about are worthless
No one could buy the love I feel for thee.
An empty plate and then an empty glass,
Sit back, relax and let the seasons pass
